Solar Energy Explained
No longer is solar energy used for just heating water.
Solar energy is a straight forward, cost-effective and energy efficient way to help run your home. No longer is it used for just heating water. The next generation solar PV (photovoltaic) panels now produce electricity to power your household appliances and lighting.
For a typical domestic solar PV system, solar panels are installed onto the existing roof of your home, or to an outhouse or garage. The system links to your distribution board which gives preference to energy from the PV panels but will automatically use electricity from the national grid when necessary. All solar panels are guaranteed for a minimum of 5 years, with up to 10 years being offered on certain products, in addition, all panels benefit from a 25 year performance warranty, though have an expected lifespan of at least 30 years.
As well as helping to considerably reduce your carbon footprint, installing solar panels offers real potential for investment. Not only can you make significant savings on your electricity bill, you will be deemed as being a producer of clean renewable energy, and as such, be entitled to receive TAX Free payments under the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme.
